Shares

Jot's pretty good when you're using it to mark up your own amends but it really comes into its own when you set it up with shares.

  • Why share notes?

If you're using Jot in the way it was originally intended – a tool for clients to mark up amends on web pages which then appear in the web developer's RSS feed – hopefully the reason to share is obvious. As the client, you would visit your Shares page, enter the username of the developer and share your notes with them. If you are using Jot for any of the myriad reasons it could be used for, you can do the same.

  • Sharing with someone

Sharing your notes means that any notes you make on any page will appear on the other person's dashboard, in their RSS feed and in place on pages when they launch Jot View

  • Someone has shared their notes with me

If someone shares their notes with you, you'll be able to see them on your dashbaord, in your feeds and on the pages alongside your own notes when you launch Jot View. Please remember, you won't be able to edit these notes.

  • Unsharing

Okay, unsharing probably isn't even a word but you know what we mean. If you want to stop sharing with someone and stop having your notes turn up on their dashboard and in their RSS, visit your Shares page. You will see a list of the people with whom you are currently sharing. Just select 'remove share' next to the relevant username and your notes will stop appearing for them.
